Australia defeated Columbia this morning in their World Cup semi final 5 goals to 2.
Australia will now play Spain in the gold medal game after Spain narrowly beat Great Britain in the other semi final in overtime.
Australia's performance today needs to improve if they have any chance of winning the gold medal in the curtain raiser game for the World Championship.
The game against Columbia today went as expected with tight, end to end hockey for the first ten minutes before Dean Dunstan scored Australia's first goal. The game continued with possession changing frequently before a defensive lapse by Australia saw Columbia score.

With the resumption of play Australia seemed to be off their game and with an ensuing power play, Columbia scored due to Australia's defence not clearing the man out of the slot. This goal took Columbia to a 2 - 1 lead and this seemed to lift the Columbian's who then started to play with more passion and puck control. However, a turn over by Columbia in their defensive zone saw Stephen Belic pass to Dean Dunstan who then scored his second goal of the game. Within another minute, Australia had its third goal through a slap shot from Anthony Collins.
The next five minutes was an arm wrestle but Australia then score again through a nice tip in from Dean Dunstan. This goal certainly settled Australia and continued to maintain possession before Dean Dunstan scored again.
